Dr. Caroline Heffernan grew up on a Beef farm near Norwood Ontario. She always knew she wanted to be a Vet from a young age. Horses, competitive sports and 4-H were part of her interests growing up.

Dr. Caroline Heffernan completed a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture with a major in Animal Science at the University of Guelph. She was a member of the Varsity Hockey Team. Caroline graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College in 1992 and was a classmate of Dr. Kim McGrimmon, an established veterinarian in the practice. Upon graduation Caroline started working as a Small Animal practitioner in Hamilton. 2002 saw Caroline move West to the Calgary area to pursue showing her horses and work. She worked at Okotoks Animal Clinic for 11 yrs with a wonderful group and then spent the last 6 years working with my “Fish Family” at Fish Creek 24 Hour Pet Hospital in Calgary.

In October of 2020, Caroline moved back to Ontario to be closer to family. Caroline is an avid barrel racer, roper and loves all aspects of horsemanship. She drove cross country with her 3 quarter horses and 2 Australian Cattle dogs – Bubba and Baby Boy.

Working in an emergency clinic setting highlighted the importance of preventive medicine. Education is a key to helping prevent disease and that is an area I love. “My passion if getting to know my patients and their owners and working to keep their pets healthy and happy. I feel blessed to be a part of the Veterinary community and to be part of the Perth Veterinary Clinic Family”
